You need to indicate your preferred access level in three places:

1. In Preferences >>> General

2. In Search (upper left corner)

3. In Marketplace (drop-down menu, top center)

Assuming that you are at least 18 years old in RL, as indicated by the birthdate you entered when your opened your account, you should be able to set the preference in all three spots.  If you can't, submit a support case.

Congratulations. And you were born on March 29, just five days ago. Many landowners in Adult regions routinely block anyone less than a month old from entering their land. It's nothing personal, just good business. The most juvenile and annoying troublemakers usually leave SL within a few weeks, either because they get bored or because they are banned. If landowners block newbies for a few weeks, they save themselves a lot of grief and make life much more pleasant for their visitors. Wait a while. Meanwhile explore the rest of SL. There's a lot out there besides the Adult regions.
