Question

Hi

My partner and I have finished the build on our parcel and set the land to public access.  It is available in search as a hangout destination (not sure what the definition of a hangout is in SL).  We have a limited number of avatars allowed on the sim at any one time.  Our first visitor, a new resident in SL, asked for the landmark to our place and was trying to set our land as her home.  When I said she could not do so and explained why plus that it is also our home she got a little annoyed. Is there a way of stopping other avatars, other than our group, marking our land as their home?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi BlackCat,

You can control teleport routing in "World->About land". It's a crude control, applying to everyone but you. To allow finer grained control, , you'll have to create a group, set the parcel to group, create a role within the group that can set home, then invite your friends to the group and assign them that role. This will prevent strangers from setting their home point in your parcel.

To make sure you maintain control over the group (which must have at least two members to avoid auto-deletion), I recommend adding an alt account (make one if you don't have one, they're handy for just this reason) to the group and retaining ownership for yourself.

they only can set home if they are ór owner ór member of the group that owns the land.

But what they can do is log out there and relog on last location. Also in several viewers you can choose where to log in.

It;s different than setting home but you can't prevent it.

If you really want a part to be private, seperate it from the land and restrict the access. Or use a security device..
