You can delete an account from your dashboard at secondlife.com >>> Account >>> Cancel Account, but there's really not much point.  If it's a Premium account, just downgrade to Basic.  If it's a Basic account, just walk away and let it exist quietly until you need an alt some day.  It won't cost you a thing, and an alt can be very handy when you need somewhere to stash L$ or transferable items, or when you just want to log in without your friends knowing.

Rolig has explained about alt accounts...how to delete them, and why you might not want to.

If you mean, you have extra avatar outfits in your inventory, just right click their folder and choose Delete to move them to your Trash folder.  Delete them permanently by emptying the Trash.

This will not work for the starter avatars in the Library section of your inventory.  The Library is a "read only" folder.  You can use the things in it, but you can neither delete them, nor add new things to the Library.  Some viewers have a function that allows you to hide the ENTIRE Library...but why bother?  It's only a couple of thousand items total.  Removing it will add almost nothing to your performance, and there's stuff in there that you may want to use someday.
