Question

I used to use my green dot visa card on a different account but now it doesn't work anymore, I've put a lot of money onto the card to purchase lindens and now I'm unable to and I can't get the money back from the card, what do I do? Could second life or linden lab bypass it?

I'm not sure what you mean by "bypass", but Linden Lab has rarely accepted prepaid or gift cards.  Occasionally some people could find one that works, but it was likely to stop working too.  Linden Lab expects you to use one of these approved cards:

  • Visa
  • American Express
  • MasterCard
  • Delta Online (non-U.S. Residents only)
  • JCB
  • Diners Club
  • Discover (U.S. Residents only)
  • Visa Electron (non-U.S. Residents only)

or a PayPal or Skrill account.

Also, Linden Lab has recently changed some processes in its accounting area and have asked all residents to re-enter their credit card information.  You should have received an e-mail note, or you may have seen  the notice in the SL blog >>> https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Update-Your-Second-Life-Payment-Info-Today/ba-p/2966060 .  If you have not updated your information since July 7, do it now.

LL recently changed payment processors and asked that everyone re-enter their credit card information.  Here is the blog post about it:

You can try that.  If it still doesn't work, LL generally does not accept most prepaid cards.  It is possible that the new company doesn't accept your prepaid card whereas the old company did.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do if they no longer accept it directly.  You could check the policies of PayPal or Skrill and see if they will accept it and VERIFY your account.  If  so, you could set up an account with one of these services and use that as your payment method.
