My US dollar amount shows a balance in it and i want to have the money sent to my bank account. How?

You can't.  You can only send money out of SL by processing a Credit Transfer to your PayPal account. If your balance is less than $10 USD, you can't do a credit transfer, UNLESS you are closing out your Second Life account at the same time.

And as Rolig says, you can't transfer direct to a bank account, or to a credit card.  You need to have a verified PayPal account.  I have not used Skrill, the new service similar to PayPal, but it's possible that you can use that instead of PayPal.
