I'm able to hike around in adjoining sim forests in a texture rich environment full of trees, grass, flowers and anything you can imagine that would be in a forest that my graphics card can handle very well. Yet when I boat at Blake Sea I can sit in the middle of a sim surronded by nothing but water for like 10 min and then my viewer crashes?

Seems odd that a whole sim of water could make my viewer crash but not a hours worth of walking around in forest sim.

Have you tried turning off water reflections and seeing if that makes a difference?

The only other thing I can think of is that you have draw-distance set very high. In a forest the surrounding objects will keep the client busy taking stock of objects around it, but on an expanse of water it might be trying to see to the very edge of the sim to build up the lists of objects it needs to try and render.
