Previous Business Owner needs help with Search Inworld

Used to be a successful business owner for 2 years... left SL due to the Search Engine fiasco and what it did to many good business owners. Back after a year absence  and curious on how search engine works now. Can anyone lead me to a good read/link on things I may need to be aware of ?
