I rent an apartment and would love to post pictures on the wall of my apartment - how can I do this?

most simple action: rezz a prim, flatten it, and drop a texture with the pic you like on it ... position it at your desired location  ... done ..

Do this to put pictures on your wall:

1. Purchase a poster

2. Click on it in your inventory, hold the mouse button down, and drag the poster out on the floor.

3. RIGHT-click on the poster, and select EDIT in the circle.

4. You will see some arrows. Drag the arrows to position the picture where you want it to be.

- You can check the ROTATE possibility, to position the picture too.

5. When you are done, click the X in the EDIT-window, and enjoy your poster on the wall ...

To put your own picture on the flat cube: Just drag the photo from your inventory to the cube, when you have the cube rezzed on the floor/ground  :matte-motes-smile:
