I need a resolution, plzzzzzzzzz

I have been trying for the longest while to login to SL.  Initially I was able to login and start playing but now I don't know what has happened.  On the login page, it gets to "Waiting for Region Handshake" and then a message comes up saying that there may be a problem with my internet connection (or course not) of the SL grid.  I have read several threads and suggestions, I have uninstalled and reinstalled SL, I have opened up the ports and blah blah blah and still I can't connect to SL!!!!!  Nohing helps!

I really want to get back into SL!  None of the other virtual worlds are as interesting and I also want to invite my friends into SL...but how can I when I cannot connect?!?!?!?  Please, I am about to give up on SL... :( :( :(  Help???

To everyone who contributed, Thank you very much for your suggestions.  Unfortunately, I had tried most of them before already and they had not worked.  I guess I'd just have to wait another few months and see what happens.

Don't give up. Never give up. In time you will get in. It may be the region you are attempting to access is having difficulties, try getting in through another region. Don't give up.

Change your Login Location.

Open Preferences and On the main General tab you can chose a different region. Set it to also show on login screen

I have only had this problem with a certain TPviewer.  Try a different viewer, even a newer version of the one you are using. Test your results.

Check to be sure that you don't have a firewall set to block access.  Therre are some guidelines HERE on how to configure common software firewalls, and you may also want to check your router's hardware settings as well.

Hello! I am also having this problem. I've tried changing the region, turning off my firewall and restarting my router.

Nothing seems to work!!  Very frustrating. 

I'm not sure what else to do.

 

What other viewers would someone recommend?

Unfortunately, there are a plenty of reasons what may cause this. To make a guess, maybe your Domain Name System is borked. To spare technical details and make it easy, you could try http://www.clearclouddns.com. Just use the setup tool they offer. Otherwise, provide more technical details about your system, network and what else you can think of.

Do you have Peerguardian on your computer? That can cause the error you are experiencing.

I don't know if this will help you, but it has worked for me and many with login issues.

Just Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming and Delete the whole Secondlife folder.

I tried that already actually. I uninstalled the program and deleted the entire program and reinstalled it several times. I guess I'd just have to wait a couple more months and see what happens :-\
