Ok so when emoting is there a way to get the [your character name] out of the sentence?

It does look tacky, but then emotes generally look tacky IMO.  If you have permission to modify the gesture, right-click on it in your inventory to open the editor, then look for the Chat step in the gesture.  It will be a text line that starts with "/me ", which is the trigger for putting your own name at the start of a chat message. Remove that part of the line and save the edited gesture.  If you don't have mod prms or if your emote is being delivered by a script instead of a gesture, you will probably not be able to do anything about it.

How else would you present a chat emote to differentiate it from words you're "speaking?"

CURRENT:  Lindal Kidd frowns in concentration.

CHANGE 1:  I frown in concentration.

CHANGE 2:  *frowns in concentration*

CHANGE 3:  Lindal Kidd: I'm frowning in concentration.  (This one needs no system changes, just speak normally without /me)

Frankly, I think the current method is best.  It lets those around you know who's doing the frowning.
