Dropping a L$250 anvil on a newbie is not the same as dropping L$250 on a newbie. And, either way, you're just too lazy to count. I bet you could do it without taking off more than one sock. So far, I've had no complaints. That sounds like buying a prostitute, with light BDSM thrown in. But more cheapskate.

Unfortunately, those are magnifying glasses. ;-). Archived, and thank you. :-) Just to voice my opinion to the OP: Mell, I'm another who, on arriving, just started walking through SL alone. I learned about things by stumbling over them and trying to figure out how they worked. As it happens I was also the beneficiary of help from others and I did not mind that in the least, so I add my support to those who've said it's a good idea to IM or otherwise interact with someone who appears to be new and mystified. I liked reading your responses. I think you'll be staying, to SL's benefit (and in all probability yours as well).

Jakob2014
I just stumbled over this thread, looking for some discussion about SL. I just had my first rezz day and I am ready to quit. Too many alts, too many guys pretending to be gals and too many big girls pretending to have the perfect body .... It was fun when I learned to dress myself and to dance ... etc, but now I just see sims stacked with alts and nothing going on. I did take the fast track for learning how to do things here , I just hired some escorts to teach me, that was money well invested .... yes I had friends, but now I am lonely again, because I refuse to be manipulated ... Y'know, just because people "pretend" to be something else here in NO WAY means they are manipulating you. No more than the kids in costume on Halloween Night are trying to manipulate you into believing they are Princesses, Ninjas or Robotic Assassins. This is Fantasyland Jakob2014. If you're here expecting your next "hookup for life" .. I'm afraid that's one fantasy that you just won't find here in Second Life.
Jakob2014
That is exactly it, for most people it is not fantasyland, it is a game. I am for sure not looking for a hookup,I am here just for fun. Sadly when you get friends with people the drama starts with manipulation I meant that some people don't take rejection well, and come over and over with different avatars at you.. Having said that, I guess it is my choice that I am still here, so I shouldn't complain lol.

Jakob, I've been in SL seven years and though I've met a few females that were so over the top I wondered who was driving then, for the most part I find no dissonance. I'd also have no idea if I was in a sim stacked with alts unless they told me, or again were engaged in over the top behavior. So, I suspect that your apparently supernatural ability to detect gender bending and alts is actually something else, internal and natural. Everything in moderation, including cynicism... and moderation. As for refusing manipulation, what if you're imagining it? Then you're refusing something else. And if you're imagining manipulation, you're not truly seeing it, and so you can't truly refuse it. And finally, to some extent, nearly everything is manipulation. Confusing? Welcome to my world! ;-).

Or .. well you get the idea .. :manlol:
