It would depend on what sort of company you want to create. For example if you wanted to start a clothes selling company, all you need to do is make some clothes, pick a name, open a shop and put your stuff for sale. Aside from that you have options for advertising, selling your stuff on Marketplace etc. however much or little you want to do.

For most buisnesses you would create a Group, you can give different members in the group different roles, tags & abilities. You can advertise for staff in various places, there is even a section on the Commerce forum here for inworld employment. Salaries and how you pay them is entirely up to you, a lot of people just pay their staff directly inworld with Lindens each week or month. There are no hard & fast "rules" for how you choose to manage your own business, so long as you and your staff are both happy with whatever arrangement you have that is all that matters. :)

You could even choose to employ people on a commission basis if you wanted to.

I'm going to assume that when creating a company you will need to look at the whole business plan.  That being the case, there is a lot of information that you are going to need.

For a start, take a look at:

[BUSINESS] 5 things every Second Life shopkeeper should know!

You can also get help via the Merchants Forum from active SL merchants.

The actual mechanics of setting up a company in SL are quite simple, running a successful business on the other hand takes a lot of time and hard work.

Good luck with this new adventure!

The business environment in SL is almost entirely unregulated. Unlike RL, there are no license fees, taxes, collective bargaining laws, safety regulations,  or other such things to worry about. Any arrangements you make with employees are between you and them.  You agree on an salary or split of profits, and LL stays completely out of it.  Your only expenses in most cases are rent, advertizing, and production costs. If you sell on Marketplace, you will also be giving LL a percentage of each sale.  This background is the same almost regardless of whether your business is retail, service, real estate, or whatever.  This is frontier business. :smileywink:

All of this makes it easy to develop a business plan -- much easier than in RL.  Total up your anticipated monthly expenses, do your best to figure out what your sales volume is likely to be, and adjust your prices realistically to set a sales target that will give you a profit.  All L$ is funnelled diretly through your own account, and you can get a reckoning of that account at any time by going to your dashboard and looking at Accounts >> Transaction History.

Hello,

The first thing you need to do is make a group. These cost $100 to make. Think of your name carefully as you will be stuck with it -- it can't be changed.

Look at how group roles work carefully. Then decide whether you want your officers and employees to have all or some or a combination of powers in the group.

Be mindful of:

o who can get a payout in the group (it's a checkoff box)

o who can deed and sell land

o who can change other things on the land

These are all powers to study. You can pay a whole amount into a deeded cube to distribute equally pay once a week (it would distribute 24 hours later. This is sort of a workaround to make groups pay out.

But there are payment devices for sale in gadget shops that can be set up to sell objects and split the pay, or pay as tip jars, etc.

You can just decide to "make someone manager," or you can use group tools to give them powers:

o can ban people

o can put in music

o can remove non-group set prims

Some businesses have several groups and divide up the land. One area might be tenants with a general group they all can join. Other areas might be vendors or a club. Depends on the thing you're doing/selling.

Chose officers/partners very carefully. Do not share things that are possible for one to steal, i.e. land where you both have rights to sell, payment objects that split in half or to everyone in the group regardless of their input. Even your very best friend might turn out to mess you up -- there are many tales of woe like that in SL.

On the other hand, with a little planning, a little trust in your fellow human being, you can make fun businesses like clubs or stores or services and multiplying those online to help can compound your profits if you set it up right.

Be prepared for a period when you invest at a loss until you figure out how SL works.

Never consider land as an investment. Land in SL is a hole in the Internet into which you pour money.

Treat land and tier as a fixed cost always. It almost never can be sold for what you paid. View it as an expense.

It cost $100 to make a group or L$ ?? its expensive

the money you make by you or an employee is send directly to you or to the group ?

You need to be the owner of the land to devided and make boxes to rent or somethings like that ?

1. It costs 100L to create a Group.

2. As you state earlier it is an Estate Agent business you are talking about, so I assume your income would be rent/tier payments from your tenants or money from land sales. If it is rents then Tenants would most likely pay to you direct through a rental box system, if it is land sale money, it depends what name you sell the land in. If you sell it in your own name the money goes to your account if you sell it in Group name the money goes to Group and the following day is sent to your account (or divided equally between group members that are entitled to it, depending on how you set up your group).

3.Once you buy land you can either leave it in your own name or deed it to your group. Depending on how you set up your group you can give any members you choose the power to sub-divide or join land plots.

4. Yes it is possible to set access to land parcels so that people need to buy a pass to get in. The cost of a pass and the time that it lasts depends on your settings.

Only if they are Full Perms & even then the creator may include conditions for resale.

Most products that creators make and sell are either Copiable OR Transferrable, it is a common practice for people to resell transferrable items from their inventories when they have a clearout, but obviously you can only sell that item once as it would not be copiable.

Start by getting a pen and paper, at the top of the page write "What I want"  then write something.

Only you know what you want.

Never accept opinions as facts

Free advice is often worth what it cost

Alert yourself when you hear someone talk in slander or discourtesly towards another. What they do in your presence, they will do in your absence.

Do not disclose what you want the answer to be, ask leading questions. Be concerned, your job is to find problems and provide solutions.

Follow the habit of asking "how do you know?"

Control your emotions, control your reactions, flexible people do not get bent out of shape. They spring back from hardship or failure. You have the greatest influence over what you do.

Do not accept anything from Life or people that you do not want. There are things you can fix and things you cannot. Stay focused on what you want. With each new success you will be rewarded with additional means and opportunity to provide for your life and family as you see fit.

Focus on the Can Do stuff, take action right now.

If you ever feel so unfortunate that you feel sorry for yourself, look around for a person who is worse off than you and then go help that person.

Emulate good people, take the initiative, maintain a positive mental attitude. Find like minded individuals.
