Ping time, FPS (yours, not the simulator FPS) and time dilation (should be 1 or very close to it) are really all you need.  Some of the texture information is useful if you are building an environment (Ktris/sec, thousands of triangles processed per second) but that won't help you if you are not able to personally affect the level of detail in objects and textures.
