Question

I am trying to upload an image.  I read the knowledge base info and converted to a png file type.  The viewer just automatically closes as soon as I select a file to upload.  I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if its my viewer, help please!

Unfortunately, there are severeal reasons why that might happen.  The file type of your image is not one of them, however.  You should be able to upload PNG, TGA, JPG, or BMP images.

The first thing to check are your graphics card drivers.  If you have an AMD/ATI graphics card, you should not be running with the most current (14.4) drivers.  AMD/ATI cards never work and play very well with SL anyway, but the current drivers are especially problematic.  Download and install an earlier Catalyst verison >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Graphics-cards/ta-p/700073#Section_.1.5

It could also be that your router is having trouble handling the HTTP Texture protocol.  If you're using Firestorm, you can turn that off in Preferences >>> Graphics >>> Advanced.  If you're on the Linden Lab viewer, you can find the setting in your Develop menu (If that menu isn't enabled on your viewer, you'll have to do CTRL+Alt+D and then CTRL + Alt + Q to get to it.)  You should probably reboot your router by unplugging it from the power for a few minutes after you change that setting.

You'll find other possibilities at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_run_crash
