windlight and shadows

Hi folks

I like working with shadows in machinima.

I notice, however, that once I move away from the basic 9am-12pm-3pm in "Customize my environment" to one of the other options (like Nam's Optimal Skin for example) I lose shadow, even though I have Advanced Lighting Model and shadows checked in Preferences. I have tried tweaking the various sliders in Phototools> Windlight settings> edit sky preset without any change - although I admit I may be missing some particular one or combination.

I use the latest Firefox viewer. My graphics card on one computer is an AMD Radeon HD 7570 and on the other is an NVIDIA Quadro 3000M.

Is there a way to get shadows with the other Windlight presets?
