   Good morning all!  Happy Summer Solstice week Monday.  Summer solstice begins on Friday,  June 21st at 11:54 am eastern.  Here are a few summer solstice facts:

1. The kind of energy the Sun emits most strongly is not ultraviolet, or gamma rays, or even visible light—it’s actually infra-red. That’s the Sun’s strongest emission, which is the kind we feel as heat.
2. On this day, the Sun rises farthest left on the horizon, and sets at its rightmost possible spot. Sunlight strikes places in your home that get illuminated at no other time.
3. The June solstice is when folks in the Northern Hemisphere see the highest Sun of the year. But did you know that the Sun’s highest point is getting lower and lower over time? That’s because Earth’s tilt is slowly decreasing.

I truly laughed this morning when I realized it was the first day of summer and yet the forecast for Denver today and this weekend is dismal.  Our normal high for this time of year is low 80s, though the rain isn't totally unusual.

Happy Monday!  Thank you Josephine for making me hungry for ice cream.  Somehow banana splits and banana split cream pie got on my radar.  Oh what the heck everyone enjoy an ice cream treat today its Monday!
