I've found that listing each lot in the Marketplace really helps.  Also, advertising in the more popular SL magazines.  Next week my first ad comes out on Designing Worlds TV show (see below).

I think it must be very hard for someone who is trying to find a lot these days, there is so very much land available.  What would be nice is a way to classify it - a way to distinguish between the dirt dealers and the landscapers perhaps.

This is a good place to remind people about the updated advertising rules that apply also to the "land for sale" signs some people put to their lands. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:About_ad_farms_and_network_advertisers

The most commonly forgotten / ignored things:

  • No more than one advertisement / region. (So if you have 5 parcels for sale in a region, you can have this sign only in one of them.)
  • It must be grounded to the terrain, not floating.
  • It must extend no higher than 8 m from the ground.
  • It must contain no rotating or flashing content and no particles.
  • It must be Phantom.
  • Ban lines should be switched off.

I was looking for a 512 parcel, and was frustrated in my attempts to visit some otherwise attractive ones: Turn OFF ban lines and parcel access lists. Set the land options to FLY (it's nice to get a bird's eye view). Turn off the forced landing zone and ALLOW landmark setting so your potential buyers can get back easily. Remove parcel-filling buildings, sculpted hills and anything else that will not transfer to the new buyer. Several times I visited sites where I was squashed against a building and could not touch ground.
