You have been in SL for a few months, but you have apparently never used the Linden Exchange before, so the clock hasn't started on maturing your account.    All accounts start with a $0 limit for selling Linden Dollars.  A week after you buy L$ for the first time, that limit raises to $300.  After that, the amount that it increases depends on how much you use the account.  (Buying on a Third Party exchange doesn't count.  You have to buy on the LindeX to start the clock ticking.  It's one safeguard that Linden Lab uses to discourage people from making quick accounts for money laundering.)

See Billing and Trading Limits to check your limits and ensure that your difficulties are actually related to your billing and trading limits. Your level will be highlighted if you're logged in.

If this does appear to be the difficulty, you may request a review of your account to increase your limits by submitting a support case:

  1. Under What type of problem are you having? select Billing.
  2. Under Billing, select LindeX Billing and Trading Limits Review Reqest.
  3. Fill out the remaining fields as instructed, then click Submit.

Linden Lab review your request and get back to you within five business days (which is how long it takes for your limit to increase normally anyway).

Besides what Rolig says, bear in mind that getting cash out of SL is a two step process.

1.  Sell your $L.  The proceeds go into your $USD balance in your SL account.

2.  Do a "process credit" transaction to transfer some or all of your $USD to your verified PayPal account.  This can take 7-10 business days.
