Question

I played second life a long time ago when it was 3.7.14 or something. It worked perfectly fine on my windows vista. So i decided to play. It said i needed to update so i did. I opened the viewer and updated it and everything seemed to go well... accept when i clicked to open the viewer after it had finished updating. Absolutely nothing happened. no errors. no text boxs. the computer did not even recgonize it as opening. I tried to open it with administrator, the admin password box didn't even show up. So the viewer was pretty much not registering at all with my computer. I even checked in the task manager to see if it was doing anything at all, or maybe openign then crashing, but i found nothing.

So I uninstalled secondlife with the uninstalling aplication thats in the files. Then I donwloaded the Secondlife setup for the newest patch ( 3.7.20 I think? )

The setup didnt open. Tried opening it with admin privlages, nothing popped up at all. Absolutely nothing to tell me that i did something wrong. Second life worked on my computer in the past, and now i cant even open the Installer to reinstall it. I wish there was AT LEAST an error message so i knew what was going wrong. Task manager dosent say anything is trying to open up, admin password wont popup. My computer is not even recgognizing it at all. The only thing it does do is have the little hour glass next to the mouse, but i can sit there all day and it wont load squat.

I know this is little to no information to go by but its all I got and without and error messages or anything, im afraid im at a complete lose at to what is happening. Dose anybody have any advice?

There's a known bug in 3.7.20 that is affecting some people.  Your report is a bit different from most, though.  Most people with this problem get to "initializing VFS" before the viewer crashes.

In any case, you may want to see here for more on this bug and how to deal with it: http://blog.nalates.net/2014/11/11/second-life-main-viewer-failing/
