How to Abandon land if unable to use SL anymore due to video card issues

How can I abandon land and go to Free account status instead of Premium since entry is no longer possible on my computer due to video card issues?

Take one problem at a time.  What video card issues?

Are you having trouble logging in with the recent upgrade of the Linden Lab viewer?  Does login stall when you get to "Loading VFS....."?  If so, then the problem is not your video card.  It's the viewer.  At least until Linden Lab issues an update with that bug repaired, download and install a different viewer.  If you like the Linden Lab viewer and are willing to use one that's not quite ready for prime time, use one of their Release Candidate or Project viewers.  Otherwise, try one of the excellent Third Party viewers.  If that's not the problem, have you tried updating your graphics card drivers? 

Next, why would you want to downgrade your account from Premium to Basic?  It's prepaid, so even if you let Linden Lab know today that you want to downgrade, the change won't be effective until the end of your current billing period.  And downgrading won't make it any easier to log in.  Unless I'm missing something, there's no advantage to abandoning land and downgrading.

Assuming that you do want to abandon land, though, you'll have to go in world to do that.  So we're back to problem #1. Let's get the graphics card business straightened out.

To add to Rolig's advice...

If you can't log in with your regular computer, go over to a friend's house and borrow theirs.  Install a viewer and log in as usual.  Abandon your land, then downgrade your account to Basic.

But, couldn't you just replace your broken video card?  While it's great to run SL on the latest $1,000 graphics powerhouse, you can get a very nice card for SL for well under $200.
