Can you play music in the Linden Homes?

I'm wondering two things. First can you play music in a Linden Home?

Second; if you can, how? I have both V. 2 and Pheonix, and I know how to add the

URL for music and all that jazz. But it never works. So I'm wondering if I missed something

or if I can do it at all. I'm totally frustrated with this.

yes you can; tv's and dvd players work also... as does anything menu driven.

Second; if you can, how?

depends on the radio/receiver you have... mine i just rezz it and it does the set-up automatically, same with the tv... sets the land url automatically also. 

So I'm wondering if I missed something

Install VLC Media player from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Visit http://www.shoutcast.com/settings/ and be sure to select Default Media Player, click Save Settings.
Goto the home page and try some streams, they should start playing in VLC.

If you like a stream open in VLC Extra=>Media information. In General it shows: Location, something like http://64.62.194.11:8030

You have now proven that the stream works. Now open Second Lifen en copy/paste the URL into the proper box in Land Properties. Click the ">" top right and you have a music stream on your parcel!

Very often URL's stop working after some time, even URL's of the Big Ones (Like SkyRadio). If that happens just find a new stream using shoutcast or Icecast ( http://dir.xiph.org/index.php ).

Do you hear music on other sims?

Are you speakers switched on? (you would be amazed how often thats the problem lol)

LOL! Yes my speakers are on, I can hear music on other sims and no, no one else can hear music at my house. I even re-downloaded sl but nothing changed.

are you sure that you (the owner of the land) and the group you have set the land in, have media abilities on?

I have had a linden home and yes you can play media. You just have to go into About Land and set it for whatever audio stream you want. Here is a rather long list of streams if you want to try some of them.

Perhaps you should test in the land of a friend the URL you are adding in your Linden Home : perhaps the problem is the URL you are using. Like others have said, there is no problem listening music in Linden Homes.
