semi opaque grey colour covering my chat boxes, what is this? how do I fix it?

in chat boxes and in other places i can type stuff, like in 'preferences' - 'notifications', there is a semi opaque grey block over the entire text field... what is this and how do i make it go away?

 

thanks Ohjiro Watanabe, it was maybe just after an update of the standard sl viewer i use, and it doesnt stop me from typing, but does make it difficult to read.

If you are using RLV try turning it off.

If not, does it stop you from typing?

Which viewer are you using and which skin if any?

Was there a point when this happened and was there something you did just before such as install a new viewer/version?
