I have no docking button for my IM window in viewer 2.3

My IM window is floating all over my screen.  There is no down arrow to dock the window as stated in the release notes.

Have you tried uninstall and reinstall the viewer? ( http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/How_do_I_fully_uninstall_and_reinstall_Second_Life%3F )

I completely un-installed, then re-installed version 2.3.  The icon isn't there.

 

By the way, my dashboard doesn't load completely in Firefox, but it loads correctly in Internet Explorer....

There are two modes of the IM user interface. To change between them,

1. Open Preferences (Ctrl-p)
2. Go to tab Chat
3. Choose the wanted behavior under Show IMs in:
4. Restart the Viewer

Docking/Undocking separate IM windows

In this mode, IM windows are attached to the session icons (displaying miniatures of group insignia or profile pictures) in the lower right corner. Click the icons to switch visibility of the corresponding session windows. At most one docked session will show at any given time, but several undocked ones can be visible at the same time.

To undock

1. click and hold the IM session window's title bar
2. drag it, thus tearing it off the bottom bar icon

To redock

1. Click the Dock button in the IM session window's title bar.
   It looks like a downwards arrow pointing to a rectangle:

In this mode, docked sessions are a tab in the communicate floater, while undocked ones are again freely floating in their own windows.

To undock

1. Click the tab's Tear Off button (just below the communicate window's title bar)
   It looks like several layered squares with a diagonal arrow:
   

To redock

1. Click the freely floating window's Tear Off (sic!) button (in its title bar)
