Chat prefixed with / doesn't work in V2.3, has it been deleted?

In 1.23 I could type the / character with focus anywhere in the screen and get a chat window popup.

I use it exensively and it allows you to keep a group chat open while typing on non zero channels.

How do I get it to work in V2.3?

I went back to 1.23, it is called Local Chat, a popup chat window that can be activated by typing / outside all widnows.

It is an essential feature.  

How do you exit V2.3?  I clic exit and everything freezes, I have to use Windows Task Manager to exit Second Life in V2.3

This sucks, I'm back to 1.23 until they get the bugs out.

Viewer 2 is the answer to a question no one asked. I think our best bet is to go to Imprudence or Phoenix's new viewer developments and let them know what functions we want. It seems to me that the TPV projects are more creative and responsive to customers. It is interesting personally that Imprudence now states they will be more directed to the open grid worlds.  I think SL will be the Atari of the 21st century. Make the market and then fade away.
