This might be a very stupid question, but I noticed today a link to a store manager's profile embedded on the profile of a creator. I know you can use https://my.secondlife.com/First.Last to create a link that opens in browser but this was different. It was just the persons name underlined, and clicking it opened up their profile to IM them (much like a calling card). Any ideas how to do this?

You do it like this:

 

[secondlife:///app/agent/8f0aa46a-fdbf-428e-817c-f3744971df0a/about Ohjiro]

That will show as typed to you but to others it will show the single word 'Ohjiro' underlined and when they click on it it will open my profile.

This bit of the URL '8f0aa46a-fdbf-428e-817c-f3744971df0a' is my UUID. One way to get the UUID of a person is to go to your browser and type:

http://keyfromname.appspot.com/?name=Ohjiro Watanabe

this works about 95% of the time so make sure you check that it works as expected.

Some viewers (Firestorm included) will display the UUID in the profile of the person so you can get it from there.

@Ohiro ---  Hmmm..... The URI redirect certainly works in many places, but I can't get it to work in a profile.  Maybe I'm just not muttering the right incantation?

Rolig,

You can't get it to work in your own profile and see it working, you either have to put it in an alt's profile and look at that profile from your own account or the other way around.

That's exactly what I was trying, though. As a test, I wanted to see if I could put a link to MY profile on my ALT's profile. I can't.

It doesn't work in web profiles only old style profiles that are the default in Firestorm, but of course not in the Linden viewer.

Aha. That's it. I normally use only the old style profile, doing my modifications in world, but was trying it this time on the web profile because that's what I expected the OP to try. It all makes sense now. Thanks.
