0 KarenMichelle Lane
Complexly put: RenderVolumeLODFactor: Controls level of detail of primitives (multiplier for current screen area when calculated level of detail) This is an adjustable option that the normal SL Viewer user should never touch! Standard users of SecondLife use a variety of PCs with capabilities that run all over the performance map. This is normally set to 2.0 and can be set to a higher value, usually 5.0. The only people that should play with this are usually photographers and the like that need for all the objects in a particular rendered frame to be visible. In this current version of SL this is directed at Mesh objects, many times that are imported into SL by developers who have used default non-optimal Level of Detail settings. Fooling with this setting causes your PC and Graphics Card Rendering GPU(s) to work harder rendering each frame and most times the results will not be noticeable. It is really up to the mesh developer to make sure that their creations are rendered and imported with optimally set LODs for visibility in the SL World.
