how do i see my altitude using this retarded viewer, does linden purposly make this viewer non-user friendly jeez

You must be talking of Viewer2. As far as I know, all the other viewers have the altitude as the 3rd coordinate on the taskbar display at the top of your viewer.

Part of their idea of giving the user a "more predictable experience" and they also thing that think is more user friendly and more intuitive.  I think I'll stick with the 1.23 viewer.

There are several viewers - two from LL, Emerald, and a couple others.  I've only used the 1.23 and it seemed very user friendly to me.  2.1 is supposed to be even more so,

You might want to consider moving to the newest Emerald beta, it's got just about all the new features that Viewer 2 has (no voice morphing support yet as far as I know though) while retaining the 1.23 style user interface, (I believe it's based on Snowglobe 1.40 which may also have some of the new features, I don't know for sure though).
