If you are continuing to get a message from the script, it means that the object (or possibly, another copy of it) is still somewhere around.  Most likely it is in the same region with you, but the message should give the object's location.  Some things are scripted to "phone you" if they become lost during your travels.  Go to the coordinates (and the region, if it's different from the one where you are).  Find the object.  Then either Take or Delete it.

Another possibility is that you are WEARING the object.  Maybe a HUD or some other part of the device.  Check your worn items and detach any suspicious looking things.
