If the land is mainland, you need a premium account, and you will be paying fee to LL, if your land is over 512 m2.

If the land is estateland, you do not need to be premium, as you pay rent to another tenant.

If you buy a part of mainland from a stranger, be sure you pay it through the tool: ABOUT LAND, in top of your screen - and not to pay the other ava directly :)

Good luck, as new landowner :)

...if you stand on the parcel and click on the ground of the land you want to buy, with right side of the mouse, you can see the "ABOUT LAND" too, and some yellow lines will show you the borders of the land. In the general tab in "ABOUT LAND", you can see if it is main land or estate land.

If you are buying mainland the person that buys the land must be premium, but they can then deed it to a group and the members don't have to be.

If more than one person in the group is a premium member and it is mainland, each premium member can contribute their 512sqm free tier to the group and the group can then own more land tier free.   A group on the mainland also can own 10 percent more land with no increase in tier. So if there are four premium members, and each contributes their 512, you can own (512 x 4) x 10% or 2252sqm without paying tier on it.
