Can the Asus K52Jr-X2 run Second Life on minimum settings?

I'm interested in getting the Asus K52Jr-X2 for my birthday. For those of you who helped me out in the thread where I asked if the Gateway NV5207u could run Second Life on medium settings, thanks.

My mother told me they could work something out since I really would like the Asus K52Jr-X2 instead (it's a better computer than the Gateway NV5207u.) My question is if the Asus K52Jr-X2 can run Second Life on minimum settings. I've attached a file that has the specifications copy/pasted into it, since I couldn't copy/paste them directly into the thread for some reason.

You should be able to get medium-high settings with that laptop.  Make sure to get a laptop cooler with it (one with active fans).

That's got some beef behind it, about the only thing I would change for maximum performance is the operating system.  Windows OpenGL support is intentionally crippled to give DirectX an artificial advantage on that OS.

I'm curious what the case design and vent locations look like.  It would be seriously stupid for Asus to build a machine that is going to run hot without adequate cooling.

Thanks for the FUD.  OpenGL works just fine in Windows.

OpenGL on Windows is implemented as a compatibility layer on top of DirectX.  You will never get the same OpenGL performance on Windows as you will on other platforms, it's simply not possible.  Sure, it runs "just fine."  But not "great."
