There are so called collars around that work together with RLV which is in some 3rd party viewers. If a person wears such a collar and allows you to control them, you own them.

You might want to check out the Adult Hub, which is a group of sims for new residents who are interested in BDSM and Gor, the two kinds of RP where avatars "own" other avatars.    Ask any of the staff there and they should be able to put you in touch with people who can explain more to you about the two forms of role play.

If I wanted to own someone, I'd simply wait them out. Eventually they'll say something completely stupid. Then I'd jump on 'em, all pithy and wise.

Of course if I did that, I'd be next in line.

It is sort of possible. In English to 'own' someone has several meanings... presuming you mean master/slave as in BDSM and Gorian role play find those groups as Innula suggests.

In general it is not possible to control another's viewer. But, for role play there are viewers where you can control another's viewers. You can restrain them, remove or add clothes, and more. To do that you need a special viewer that has been modified to allow that type of play. The one thing you cannot do, is stop a person from logging out. Once logged off they can turn off the option to allow you to control their viewer.

There are several 3rd party viewers that support RLV (Restrained Love Viewer). There is a Retrained Love Viewer. The control modifications have been shared among viewer developers. Kitty Marine is, AFAIK, the main programmer for these modifications.

You need a viewer that can handle RLV and a 'device' or in SL an attachment,  either a HUD or something your avatar wears (thus collars are popular) that interfaces the world with your viewer. There are a number of free ones in the SL Market Place. Plus people at the Adult Hub can turn you on to a number of 'devices'.

The operation of the RLV things can get a bit complex and I am a bit of a novice. But, the UD usually allow you to choose to some degree what others can do to you. For instance you may want you feet, hands, or hair to stay attached in most cases. It is possible via a HUD to set RLV to block access to those attachments.

As you can probably see it will help to have someone in world showing you how things work. Some submissive may enjoy the oppertunity...

For the sake of clarity, the Owner doesn't need to have any particular viewer for RLV to work on other people (which is normally what the Owner requires). It matters that the slave or submissive uses RLV. The dom(me) can use any viewer she or he likes.
