net connection

I'm wondering if anyone knows why I would lose my net connection in the first 5 minutes of logging into sl. This is only when I am on my laptop and connected through a wireless network. I stay connected with a great signal all night long if do not try and log in world. I have no firewall blocking anything, this is driving me crazy. I would be so appreciative if anyone possibly knows what the problem could be or could suggest an easy fix.

You will find that wireless can be a problem because of the extra latency as well as packet loss.  A standard webpage doesn't care.  But a steady stream of graphics information does not do well under those conditions.  Try lowing your maximum bandwidth setting to help reduce packet loss.
