Premium Account Questions

Question

What exactly do you get with a premium account? I know you get some land.. and I guess a house now, as well as the nifty extra service. (I see wiki says something about a monthly $L stipend, but not how much) But is that all?

You get land immediately only if you opt for the Linden Home. If you're new, it's a good idea to take that option, but if it's not your taste, you can go buy a 512 sqm parcel anywhere on the Mainland continents (open the Map when inworld, and you'll see these if you pull back the slider at the bottom right of the Map window). Currently you can buy a land 512 for L1000 or a beach/water parcel for a bit more than that.

But, as mentioned, you might as well grab a Linden Home to start. You can 'abandon' it if and when you find a Mainland parcel you'd prefer to move to.

The weekly stipend is currently L300---you do get this each week. If you get your Linden Home and wait a few weeks you will be able to afford to buy a beach/water parcel, if you prefer it to the Linden Home, without putting any additional money into SL.

Do you owe tier fees on this land? So in addition to the $72/year for a premium account, do you owe LL some weekly or monthly fee for the land?

Bottom line---if you have only a 512m parcel (whether a Linden Home one or a Mainland one), you pay NO tier. But if you get a larger parcel, you do pay tier. (Starting at US$5 per month if you get a 1,024 sqm parcel.)

Can you go over the prims they give you with that plot of land? And if so, do you them just owe them money based on regular tier rates?

For the Linden Homes 512m, you get 117 prims. The house itself doesn't take up any of the 117 so you can use them all on furnishings, decor, etc. And if this is all you have (that is, if you don't also own land on the mainland), you owe no additional fees or payments, other than just the Membership fee (the $72/year that you mention above).

Can you use the land for commercial purposes?

Not the Linden Homes parcel. But if you buy a 512m parcel on regular Mainland, instead of taking a Linden Home, then you may use that for commercial purposes. (And, again, you would owe no additional fees or tier, above your Membership fee as discussed above.)

Are their building height restrictions? Can you use that land to put a home in the sky, rather than on the ground?

Same answer as the 'commercial purposes' answer just above. On Linden Home, you can't build a skybox; on regular Mainland, you can.
