Practice, practice, practice. Do NOT jump right in and broadcast for a venue, or more than just friends/family, until you're familiar with everything it does(and you can do with it). Learn how to troubleshoot, before you have problems. Not that everyone does, but, it's good information to have. Read, watch, whatever, any tutorials you can find. Even if you think you're comfy with it...continue to practice, practice, practice.

It's not that difficult to use, but everyone's level of comfort is different, as are our learning styles.

Don't set it up with the expectation you can begin working a club the same day. Even if everything goes smoothly for you. It's really easy to get frazzled when things go wrong. So give yourself ample time.

Another option, if you do not want to fork out the money for SAM Broadcaster. Is to use the free to use program MIXXX DJ.  http://www.mixxx.org/  It is open source and has been gathering quite the following. It operates similar to SAMs and the plus is that it's Free and customizeable. ( I like the deck lay outs personally)

There are plenty of walk throughs and youtube/vimeo videos on pointers of how to use the program and how to mix your own music and live broadcast with it. I have used it reliably for the last few months DJing within Second Life.

Goodluck on your path!!

XxX

Stick with SAM... it's the only broadcasting software that will tell you what the error might possibly be with an error code. Last time I Iooked none of the others offered this. It's a lot easier to troubleshoot things when you know what the issue be wrong.

Click here for a listing of some of the error codes:http:// sambroadcaster.wikispaces.com/ERROR+NUMBERS

If you get something saying " cannot send data fast enough" you might want to contact your ISP or stream provider for help (but most times that error inidcates a problem on your end, your isp or the net itself).

Good luck!
