New homeowner - questions about being a good neighbor

Am new to SL (1 month) and am in a Linden Home in Meadowbrook, and am curious:

Can people outside my home hear the TV / music streaming?

Is there an easy way to plot out the 20 meter radius around the house to see who is impacted during local chat?  If I'm typing into the Chat Box for the TV, will the houses next door see "Nickelback" or "funny pets" etc?  Do people use the Whisper function instead when they are in range?

In response to your questions

1) No, they can't hear/see the radio/TV outside the boundaries of your land, but they can if above your land if flying over.

2) You can map 20m  distances from your boundaries East/West  and North/South  using the co-ordinates listed at the top of your browser, First number is East/West the second North/South in metres. The rest is simple maths.

3) You could whisper - that takes distance down to 10m.  Some radios and TVs let you set the station using a chat channel other then public chat by using  something like /1 Nickelback .  The number to use after the / should be documented with the radio/TV.  Any chat after the /number cannot be seen by others in public chat.
