Question

Hi i was logging in today and it all went fine until it said my current location wasn't available and tp'd me to the closest HUB. I decided to log out and back in to see if the problem still existed and it did the same thing about 3 times in a row. Has anyone else experienced this? I can log in fine and it really isnt affecting me much but im just wondering if it has happened to anyone else. Thanks

Well, lots of reasons for a sim to fail to respond to a login request.  System is designed to move you to an alternate location if the sim you are requesting to log into does not respond. Better than just not allowing you to log on     You can choose to log into Home, Last Location or any sim if you know the name.  I suppose one way to guarantee a high success rate is to find a reliable sim with very little activity.  I just use my Home most of the time.  Probably only get rejected 1 time out of 500 logins so can't complain

In this order, try:

http://slurl.com/

On login screen take this path. In top left hand corner of screen, click, edit > perferences > in the general tab, click the box that says "show start location on login screen" click apply, click OK. Now you have something new on your login screen. Click the down arrow and choose "home", or "last location" or type "Violet" (Any region you can remember will do, if you remember the regions name spelling exactly) in the "type region name" selection. Try all three if you need to.

Your firwewall should be set to "outbound access only" for the Seond Life program.

Wait, sometimes the servers have problems, only wait a few hours at most.

Reset your modem.

Other possible solutions:

Try another viewer. This one for instance:

or

Make out a JIRA.

NOTE: See the black box near the top marked "instructions". Read these first, before making out the JIRA.

This has been reported on pJIRA.On logging into Second Life, I recieve an error msg. (Unable to connect to simulator). I am sent to another region due to another msg I recieve (region is not available).

Please add your comments, particularly the name and details (eg. sim3320.agni.lindenlab.com) of the specific Region(s) you are trying to log into, how you connect to the internet (wired/wireless) and the name of your ISP. And vote !

(For Region information see How do I find my system information?)

pJIRA is a tool for residents to file new feature requests as well as bug reports (The "P" stands for Public.) An overview and common questions about pJIRA can be found in the Public Issue Tracker

How do I log in to the Tracker?

  • Visit https://jira.secondlife.com and click the 'Log In' link on the top right of the page
  • On the login page, enter your Second Life username (Firstname Lastname) and password

Thank you
