Video Streaminf to SL (VLC or soemthing free)

I know I managed to do this a few years back but seem to be unable to remember the settings.

 

How would you stream a video to SL using VLC.

I have tried several settings for HTTP and RTSP

I would also accept other streaming options as long as they are free.

 

The file I want to stream is a mp4 video

SL has NO streaming service at all.

If you place a streaming URL in your land info then the only thing SL will do is give that to every viewer that enters your partcel.

You can then use the built in media player to play that if you like to. Or use an external player. You don't even need to be on the land or even be logged in to play the stream.

So if you want to stream something yourself you need to rent a streaming server and either feed that server with a stream or upload mp3's. Of course you have all permissions to broadcast your stream or mp3's in a service that can be accessed worldwide. (for all who find out the url of your rented stream)
