Outstanding! 2

Hunter Stern
When we got Flexi we lost Hinges. Hinges were a thing in the Edit window at one time long ago. Can you imagine walking around in or styling your hair with hinges on your head? 🤨 🤣

It must detect mesh in order to do this. Detecting mesh would be a huge rewrite of the SL backend, land prices would likely need to triple or quadruple to account for the extra servers needed. On top of the extra land cost, all those people playing on Laptops would need to leave SL as their computers would not be powerful enough. There's also a good chance you would need to buy a new body, new head, new AO, and new collision detecting hair. This should be a simple fix by utilizing the HUD feature in the sim. You could possibly trigger the hair with a hud and apply a non-crash code that prevents the hair from falling through clothing and skin. It must detect mesh in order to do this. it in a sense would be AI hair and all hair makers could provide this fix as a hud with all rigged mesh hair. What you are referring to is called (in a very long time ago 3D modeling and animating) "Sprite Collision" - which SL does not support unless the object is physical. Ideally, mesh collisions in all things would be awesome and basically solve the issue of hair through phantom bodies, but SL simply does not have this "tech". So the answer is mesh hair that also is mesh where it "drapes" along the body and clothing (as it is now) and any flexi attachments be restricted to the upper-head area. Argrace did this expertly in most, if not all their hair that featured flexi "highlights", such as the Aya and many others. Unfortunately (I don't know the reason) Argrace is doing a 100% reboot and *all* their old selections have been removed from any availability whatsoever. So never lose what you already have if you have any.
Conifer Dada
What we need is flexi mesh that doesn't penetrate the skin! That's the only real problem with flexi hair - apart from that it can look as good as mesh. But then mesh has the opposite problem, it stays glued to your back, which is particularly noticeable with a ponytail. I wonder if anyone has come up with bento ponytails yet! I still think that it would be worth LL updating the 'system' avatar and that could include more versatile and better looking system hair. Then people could be tempted away from using billion-trillion polygon mesh bodies which over 50% of other residents see as jelly dolls or blurred, half-rezzed exiles from Active Worlds c. 2008. Bento does not solve the main problem of long mesh hairs (i.e. the "glued to the body effect"). Bento hair movement is not natural, it just does its own animations. Bento hair does not react to body movements naturally like flexi hair does. Well made shoulder length flexi hairs are still the most natural looking hairs what we can have in SL. Newest mesh hairs look great too, but the movement is the problem which is unsolved so far.
