Crazy display problems

I'm new to SL and I haven't even been able to play at all because when I log in the display goes all crazy and I am unable to see what is going on. I meet most of the system requirements, but I'm not sure if my video card is up to snuff. I'm running a Radeon X1050 on an Intel Desktop Board D915GAG with 3.00 GHz Intel Pentium 4, 1.02Gig memory, and plenty of hard drive space.

Please tell me if you think you know what's casusing the crazyness.

ATI graphic card problem..well known.

Edit > Preferences > Graphics > Hardware Options (bottom right) > uncheck Enable VBO.

That should sort it.
