Daria Afterthought
Can someone find the part of the TOS that says you can get banhammered for re-posting other people's IM logs unless they agree to it? I can't find it but I presume its somewhere in there.

Disclosure Residents are entitled to a reasonable level of privacy with regard to their Second Life experience. Sharing personal information about a fellow Resident --including gender, religion, age, marital status, race, sexual preference, and real-world location beyond what is provided by the Resident in the First Life page of their Resident profile is a violation of that Resident's privacy. Remotely monitoring conversations, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without consent are all prohibited in Second Life and on the Second Life Forums. Note that this does not apply off of Linden Lab server space as per the KB article on it. You will have to search help for that yourself since posting links to the KB has never worked. 0 Ann Otoole
Ah I managed to find it at last. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Someone_in_Second_Life_is_distributing_chat_logs_within_Second_Life_or_on_the_Second_Life_forums. Remotely monitoring conversations, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without consent are all prohibited in Second Life and on the Second Life Forums. Other actions -- posting such logs on web pages, emailing them, or printing them out and posting them on utility poles in the "real world" -- are all actions beyond the scope of the Second Life Terms of Service. 0 Yichard Muni
I don't know if this is in the TOS, but anyway IMs are private, so it is always an offence to publish them without consent. RL laws need thick books to be described. If the TOS was to re-enumerate all what is forbidden by law, it would be a thick book too. So TOS is only about basic discipline, while not superseding laws. And the fact that an offence is not mentioned in the TOS does not make it legal.

0 Yichard Muni
Law is not "semantics". Better to understand the difference, before a court goes "bitching" you.
