If you were the only member of the group, it would have ceased to exist within 48 hours.  A group must have at least 2 members at all times to avoid being deleted permanently.  You will need to create a new group with a different name.  This time, be sure to make your alt a co-owner of the group so that you can be sure it won't vanish like the first one.
