How do I get a new name for roleplaying?

I want to start participating in Gorean roleplay.  How do I change my SL name to one that is more appropriate for Gor and still keep my SL name for other activities in SL?  Or is that possible?

Create a new avatar. You're allowed to have more than one. You can't change names - LL made the mistake of using the name as part of the way data is stored so changing names is really impractical at this point (they have to do a bit of work in the database to do it, so only do so when needed for a reason they think worthy, which RP is definitely not going to meet).

You can't change your name once you registered. If you really want another name for your avatar, you should register another account with the desired name.

Welcome to Gorean rp, from a long time Gorean rper. Unfortunately the only way to get a new name is to create a new alt. There was talk about being able to spend money to change a name, but it looked like this was for busines purposes only. Many people who start gorean RP start with a new alt because of this. Hope that helps!

won't change your account name but it lets Billy Bob to do this

You could just use a flip titler which woudl post a name of your choosing in  a colour of your choosing, and then just add in your profile that that is your RP name and when displayed you are "In Character"

and most of gor has teh GM/GLM with a name over your flipping head and fliptitles especially the multilined ones works wonders if not using hte GM/GLM tags

Reality is there are only half of a million actual residents living in SL, YAY for the rest being "Alts!" \o/

Not if they have half a brain and can read. Things like the titler to wear along with the chatter, the one that is set to match your RP name.

It's no absurd curiosity, it's out there and it's working well.
