Is it possible to get virus from whatching or listening inworld to media that has infected url?

Sure if You name with "Virus" also exploits.

Why should an inworld media-viewer be less exploitable? For example, SL use QuickTime, so bugs playing with QuickTime must be reviewed for too.

What can You do to stay a bit more on the safe side?

Keep Your system up to date and don't forget all this nice lil tools like QuickTime, flash, acrobat and so on.
