what is this thing I see on my friend list?

A friend of mine is apparently online according to the friends list but when I click to IM it says offline and she has an odd marking round her name on the online list . I have never seen it before what is it? I an not giving LL 10l to show you the symbol so will describe it, it is like a scratchy y in a kind of speech bubble.

you could also take a snapshot and save it to your hard drive which doesnt cost 10 lindens. :-)

The icon you are seeing is someone using SLim, a secondlife IM client that does not require the avatar to be present inworld!

SLim is provided by Vivox and also allows you to use voicechat with your friends -even if they are not inworld-

If someone's using the Viewer, you'll see the Second Life hand logo beside their name. If they're using SLim, you'll see the cube logo instead:
