How do I find places to buy clothes?

I don't like the outfit I started with.  How do I buy different ones?

Use the Search button at the bottom center of your screen, then click the Places tab.  Use keyword combinations such as "mens pants," "womens pants," "scarves," etc. and click the Search button in the window.  If you want to search Mature areas, make sure you check the box for mature.  Choosing a store to visit can be tricky; just because it's highly visited doesn't mean it's top quality.  Stores that aren't visited so much will often have deals in order to attract new customers.

Places to find free (or alternative) clothing :

 

1. Most mentors ("Second Life Mentor" over their name) have landmarks to places where you can get free clothes
2. Many mentors also have some free clothing they can give out if you ask them
3. Your Inventory > Library folder > Clothing folder has all the default avatars and their outfits
   
4. Many stores have freebies as well as outfits you have to pay for
