0 Rolig Loon 26,615
Which radar? In which viewer? If you mean the minimap in the "official" V3 viewer, here's what those symbols mean: Some objects and areas are color-coded: Cyan areas █ Objects you own. Fuchsia areas █ Objects your groups own. Green markers o^v Other Residents:At about the same height as your camera position. Above your camera position. Below your camera position. Hover over a marker to view the Resident's name. Yellow dots o Your nearby friends. To see and edit your Friends list, choose Communicate > My Friends. Dark gray blocks █ Objects owned by others. In a region with lots of buildings, you see lots of these. Red areas █ Offline regions In the Firestorm viewer, the symbols are different: Round dot: An avatar at about the same height as your camera viewpoint; for example, if you're standing next to them. ^ - An avatar above your camera position. They may be flying, or in a very high building. v - An avatar below your camera position. This may also show if the avatar is over 1,000m. + - Height unknown. Dark gray blocks: These are objects owned by others. Cyan blocks: These are objects you own in the area. Fuchsia blocks: These are objects deeded to (owned by) a group you're in. Pale Orange blocks: Scripted objects. Dark orange: Temp on rez objects. Red blocks: Physical objects. Tiled dark blue: These are areas beyond your vision. You can see them by moving closer, or increase your draw distance in the Graphics tab of the Preferences window. Red areas: The Mini-Map turns red if the Region is offline or your viewer has lost its connection. 1
0 Lindal Kidd 17,867
There's more than one sort of "radar"... Mini-Map: Some viewers change the "green dots" that represent avatars to indicate different things. A ^ means that they are higher than my current (camera)position, and a v means they are lower. A yellow dot means they're on your Friends List. You are also a yellow dot...the one at the center, with a field of view cone radiating outwards from your position. People/Nearby window (this is the one I think you're asking about): The + sign means they're on your Friends List. The sound bars mean that they are using Voice. You might also be referring to the Conversations window, which ALSO shows a list of nearby people. This is the new "CHUI" Communications Hub interface, and it drives a lot of us old hands crazy. For a good video tutorial on using these features, see the incomparable Torley Linden explain all at:
