Maybe something in the full height of the avatar. To make it easier to combine and side seams for greater visibility. I also have a 3D avatar .PDS for photoshop, but it uncomfortable to draw. There are other templates for the SL avatar but there are no 'full length' ones because those templates are for texture layer clothing that is applied (painted) directly onto the body, and that has three parts: head, upper body and lower body. You'll need to Google, I'm away from my pc at the moment but there's a blender file which has a joined mesh and uv which you can bake out to separate uv maps.
