Why do I keep getting a monthly fee on one of the groups I am in?

i belong to a group andevery month for the last few months i have had a fee applied to my account,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, why? and what is it for?

The group you belong to has a monthly fee to cover costs, to stop paying you will have to leave the group.

ADDED: At a guess, it probably goes to pay for the rent or tier charge.

Members of any group pay an equal share of any costs of the group, most commonly the fees for advertizing group events in Search. When fees are spread among all members so that each person pays way less than a penny each time, it's pretty painless. A group owner can choose to change the role abilities within the group so that costs are instead paid by a smaller group.  Many do that, but many do not too.  The flip side is that group members also share in any profits, so if the group sells property, for example, the sales income is split among all members who share that ability.

You can always check your own role in any group by opening the group's page, clicking the Members & Roles tab, and then highlighting your own name and checking Abilities.  If you don't want to share the group's liabilities and assets, you can always ask the group owner if s/he'll change it.  Otherwise, you can leave the group.
