I can't change Singularity (64 bit) 1.8.4 (5433) Nov 14 2013 14:17:10 graphics without crashing.

64 bit viewers are very new, and they may be less stable or widely usable, compared to the 32 bit viewers.

But the problem may not be your viewer.  Intel 4000 integrated graphics are not guaranteed to work with Second Life (although they do work for some people).  You really need a dedicated graphics card like Nvidia GeForce or AMD/ATI Radeon.
