Welcome to Second Life Answers, Natalia

There might be some unscheduled maintenance taking place, although as yet nothing has appeared on the Second Life Grid Status pages.

http://status.secondlifegrid.net/

You could try logging into a different start location. Furball or Quarrel or Itress (empty Linden owned sims).

Hello again, Natalia.

When you bring up your login screen, just to the right of where you normally type in your login details (username: password:  ), there should be a third one with Start at: over it. It will either say "My last location" in the box or "home", but you can click within the box and type in the name of any sim where you would like to log in.

If you cannot see this on your login screen, then you need to go up to "Me" at the top left hand corner of your login screen to drop down the menu, then click on the "general" tab, and check the box "show on login".

Silly me, I didn't realise you are absolutely brand new to Second Life and have never been able to log into the viewer.

It would therefore be extremely helpful if you'd post your system specifications. It will give us something more to go on.

There is a guide to minimum requirements over on the Wiki. https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/index.php

You shouldn't be having problems, Natalia. Maybe something went wrong during the installation process.

Please uninstall Second Life from your computer and then install a fresh version of it https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/?lang=en-US

Let us know what happens, will try and advise further if this does not work.
